HB 4600 Training

This eight-hour education program is for people employed in or to be employed in the care, housing, and education of disabled children as well as their supervisory personnel and administrators. Successful completion of the program shall be mandatory for state, county, and municipal employees engaged in the care, housing, and education of disabled children as well as their supervisory personnel and administrators on and after July 1, 2023.

Topics associated with this training will include:

  • characteristics of and supports for students with high-incidence disabilities (e.g. dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, emotional disturbance, attention-deficit disorder, communication disorders, mild/moderate intellectual disabilities),
  • characteristics of and supports for Students with low-incidence disabilities (e.g. blindness, deaf-blindness, deaf or hard-of-hearing),
  • characteristics of and supports for students with autism,
  • federal and state law, regulations and policies specific to individuals with disabilities and those individuals who provided services to students with disabilities.
  • information to prepare you to recognize and respond appropriately and legally when you encounter suspected cases of child maltreatment.
